After almost 30 years of working at Community Action, I am retiring effective July 25, 2022. Community Action, and specifically Community Action Planning Council of Jefferson County, has been in my heart since day one on the job. As I reflect back over the years, I realize how fortunate I have been to be employed at an agency that supports people through crisis, assists in family stabilization and helps families thrive. I am honored and proud to have been the Chief Executive Officer of Community Action Planning Council. However, this agency would not be successful without the unwavering dedication of staff throughout the entire organization. Our Leadership Team is spectacular and always has the best interests of their staff in mind. Our Board of Directors has always been supportive of our programs, participates in agency events and are great ambassadors within the community.
I have worked with countless individuals within my agency, in the community, at the state and federal levels that are dedicated to giving all families opportunities to grow and achieve their personal goals. Collaboration with our many partners have also led to agency success and made our programs stronger every year.
I truly believe in our agency mission:
Community Action Planning Council assists, supports and empowers people through diverse programs designed to alleviate poverty, promote self-sufficiency, and advance community prosperity.
and the Community Action Promise:
Community Action changes people’s live, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities, and makes America a better place to live. We care about the entire community and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other.
I know I will miss my work and especially the staff here at Community Action, but the Board of Directors will be choosing someone as CEO that will care deeply about our initiatives and continue the successes we’ve built upon over the last 56 years.
As always, we welcome suggestions from the community to assist us in providing the best services possible that address local need. Please feel free to contact us anytime to share your thoughts and ideas.
Stay safe and healthy!
