The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is a federal program that provides reimbursements for nutritious meals and snacks to eligible child care programs. CACFP reimbursements are designed to support those children most in need.
National CACFP Week March 16-22
National CACFP Week is designed to raise awareness of how this program works to combat hunger. CACFP brings healthy foods to tables across the country for children in child care centers, homes, and afterschool programs as well as adults in day care. It is important to share with our community just how important programs like this are, and advocacy is one way to make sure that happens.

Family Style Dining
Family style dining promotes and supports social, emotional, and gross and fine motor skill development. Children learn about appropriate portions, healthy eating habits, sharing, and cooperation.
Early childhood professionals sitting and eating with children engages them in social interactions and provides opportunities for informal modeling of mealtime behaviors and manners.
meal planning
A well-crafted menu not only supports the healthy development of young children but also pleases their palates, encouraging better eating habits. From balancing essential nutrients to ensuring meals are fun and visually appealing, we explore creative solutions to make mealtime a delightful and stress-free experience for both caregivers and children.
Kids in the kitchen

Cooking with children and involving them in activities in the kitchen is a great way to help encourage trying new foods. They can learn about different foods and textures, and practice using their fine motor skills. Involving them can also help with their confidence when they feel they are contributing.

Feeding choosy eaters
As children grow, their appetites are changing, and they are learning what their food preferences are. This can make mealtime a bit challenging. Work with our CACFP Coordinator to find out different strategies you can implement to encourage adventurous eating.
