Head Start is now recruiting for the upcoming school year. Families with children that will be age 3 or 4 by December 1st are eligible to apply. Head Start is a federally funded preschool education program offered at no cost to families who are income eligible. Automatically eligible are those families receiving TANF or SSI, foster care parents or families that are homeless. Over-income status may be waived for a child with a diagnosed disability or living in a high-risk environment.
Head Start offers family support services and for your child, the opportunity to socialize with peers, engage in pre-kindergarten readiness experiences, and enhance individual skills and talents. Sites are located in Antwerp, Carthage, Dexter, Adams Center and Watertown with home based options available for rural families of Jefferson County. We provide a variety of options including center part day and full day, and a combination of part day and home base programming for 3-year olds.
Head Start offers a full range of services including family support, mental health and community resource services, transportation for part day classes, on-site nutritious meals, health screenings and healthy life-styles education, bilingual services, and parent trainings and activities.
