Summer Meals for Kids Starting June 29

Keeping up with rising food costs can be a struggle.  Grocery bills are especially challenging for low-income families during the summer months when kids are home from school and unable to access free or reduced meal programs.  The Summer Food Service Program can help!

Community Action and Watertown City School District are the Jefferson County sponsors for the Summer Food Service Program.  Together, we sponsor meal sites throughout the county at which kids eat free!

Beginning June 29 through August 21, kids can get a nutritious meal or afternoon snack at a variety of locations in Watertown and the surrounding communities.  As of right now, 29 meal sites have been confirmed, with more additions expected in the coming weeks.  Click here for full site list.

Summer meals aren’t the only thing served up at Community Action’s Davidson Street facility.  On July 6, the agency kicks off its Summer Activities Program for youth.  Each weekday, between noon and 3:00 PM, children will enjoy a variety of games, activities and crafts, in addition to lunch and an afternoon snack.  The activity program is open to school-aged children.  Children younger than school-age may attend when accompanied by a parent.

The Summer Food Service Program is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture with local promotional support from the Nutrition Outreach and Education Program at Community Action Planning Council.
