Kids Eat Free This Summer

Worried about how to stretch your food budget now that the kids are out of school?  The Summer Food Service Program is here to help!

Community Action Planning Council and Watertown City School District are the Jefferson County sponsors for the Summer Food Service Program, a program that provides nutritious meals and snacks to children during the summer months when school meals are not available.  Beginning June 27 through August 19, summer meals will be served at 33 sites throughout Jefferson County.  Click here for full list of sites.  Each site offers free meals that meet federal nutrition guidelines to all children 18 years old and under (up to age 21 if disabled).

Meals won’t be the only thing served up at Community Action Planning Council.  We are also hosting a Summer Activities Program for youth in partnership with the YMCA’s Project Strong.  The activity program will be offered July 5 through August 19 and is open to school-aged children.  Lunch will be served 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, after which children will engage in a variety of games, activities and crafts, followed by an afternoon snack served 3:00 to 3:30 PM.
