Golfing for Community Action Helps Kids Look and Feel Their Best

When kids look and feel their best, they have more confidence and are better prepared to learn and excel in school.  Community Action is encouraging support from the local community to ensure that children of low-income families have the supplies they need to look and feel their best in preparation for a new school year.  The agency is hosting a golf tournament to raise in support of personal care items, such as shampoo, hairbrushes/combs, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, gift certificates for haircuts, and feminine hygiene products.

Team BlakeGolfing for Community Action will be held on August 12 at Watertown Golf Club, located at historic Thompson Park.  The tournament will be played in 4-person captain and crew format.  Registration begins at noon, followed by a shotgun start at 1 PM.  The cost is $75 per person ($300 per team) which includes greens fees, cart rental, and a buffet dinner.  Tickets are available for dinner only at a cost of $25 per person.  The event includes a hole-in-one competition featuring a $10,000 prize and numerous contests and prize drawings.

A number of local businesses are showing their support through sponsorship, including Benefit Services Group, the event’s major sponsor.  Sponsorship opportunities are still available, starting at $200 for a tee sponsor which includes signage at the event.  Community members are invited to register a team, donate a prize, or promote their products/services with one of several different sponsorship options.
