Summary:
The Teacher Aide in the Watertown Head Start Center cooperates with the Master Teacher or Teacher Assistant in helping with the Head Start classroom. The Teacher Aide I helps to ensure the safety of the children and assists with carrying out the Head Start Performance Standards. The aide will also be responsible for being a bus monitor for two runs/day and completing training as applicable.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION • High School Diploma and CDA preferred. • Basic education level to understand and perform program duties as required. (Must be willing to obtain a CDA or an Associate Degree in Early Childhood by September 30, 2013)
EXPERIENCE • Prior experience working in an Early Childhood setting preferred. REQUIRED SKILLS • Demonstrated ability to be supportive and non-judgmental in working with low-income families • Ability to maintain confidentiality of program information • Ability to observe and learn to record behaviors of children • Ability to work as a team and to cooperate with all staff to provide quality programming for children and families • Ability to communicate clearly in writing and speaking • Ability to keep accurate, detailed records • Ability to serve as advocate for children and their families • Ability to help and willingness to carry out appropriate education program for a group of children and their families within the context of the Head Start philosophy and performance standards. • Ability to work with young children APPLICATION: CAPC Application and resume must be received by 5:00 PM, February 11, 2010 to the Community Action Planning Council of Jefferson County, Inc. 518 Davidson Street, Room 2, Watertown, New York 13601.
