Christmas Clearinghouse

Christmas Clearinghouse is a collaborative effort of human service agencies, businesses, civic groups and individuals in Jefferson County dedicated to ensuring that there are no families in our community without holiday gifts for their children.  Applications will be accepted between October 15 and December 7, 2012 at the following locations:

  •             Salvation Army, Watertown
  •             Rohde Center, Adams
  •             Antwerp Town Hall, Antwerp
  •             VEM Food Pantry, Carthage
  •             Presbyterian Church, Chaumont
  •             Clayton, Alexandria Bay, Thousand Islands
  •             Indian River Baptist Church, Philadelphia
  •             Depauville Food Pantry, Depauville

Click here for a complete list of sites with application days/times.  Families are encouraged to apply early.  Applications will not be accepted during the Thanksgiving holiday.   The child’s first name, along with gender, age, and Christmas wish, are placed on the “Angel Tree” at the Salmon Run Mall.  (No other identifying information is included).  Community members select an Angel, purchase the gift, and return the Angel and unwrapped gift to the Angel Tree.  The Community Action Planning Council stores the gifts and distributes them to the registration sites.

The Community Action Planning Council coordinates Christmas Clearinghouse under the auspices of Community Action Angels, a statewide initiative that encourages volunteer support of the Community Action mission.  Thanks to the generosity of the local community, 2,497 children in Jefferson County received gifts through this project last year.  For more information about Christmas Clearinghouse, call Sherry at 315.782.4900, extension 271.
